Sergio Ramos Excellently Responds To Ajax After Bizarre Twitter Jibe
Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos was quick to shut down Ajax’s official Twitter feed after the Dutch club bizarrely took aim at him with a nostalgic post. Looking back at their Champions League last 16 victory over Los Blancos last season, they made a jibe at the Spaniard, but probs my regretted it instantly.
This season hasn’t gone nearly as well for Ajax. A run to the semi finals of the Champions League was backed up this season by a group stage exit and subsequent Europa League loss to Getafe. That was before football was put on hold indefinitely due to the Coronavirus outbreak. They showed a picture of Ramos next to a picture from the game, but they soon got their reply.

Without saying anything, Ramos simply posted a photo of each of his own Champions League successes with Real Madrid, in 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018. He was captain for three of them, and scored crucial goals in two finals, against local rivals Atletico Madrid. He certainly had a right to point that out, don’t you think?
To their credit, Ajax took it all in good spirits, attaching their own photos of their victories. The latest came in 1995, and it was thought that the team that beat Madrid last year would emulate them. Eventually, though, they were stopped in their tracks by Tottenham, who in turn lost to Liverpool in the final.
With no sign of football returning and much of the world still on lockdown, it remains to be seen if and when Ramos can try to add to his European haul. Though UEFA have said they are committed to ending the season.
