Roy Keane asked funny question by kids at Republic Of Ireland press conference [Video]
It’s not often we get a smile out of Roy Keane but when we do it’s great.
Everyone knows Keane is a strict disciplinarian. The Cork native is not afraid of falling out with colleagues or taking them for a shortcut, but there’s also a soft side to his personality.
Keane is not only one of Ireland’s greatest every footballers, but he’s also a family man. A dog walker. A fund raising personalty for people suffering with blindness.
Keane’s cuddlier side was on show today as he answered questions not only in front of inquisitive journalists but children also.
The press conference was held ahead of Ireland’s World Cup qualifier against Wales, and the assistant boss allowed two young girls to ask him a few questions.
Girl 1: “Roy, you’ve been hanging around with Roy for a long time. Is he your best friend?”
Keane: “Hanging around! Is he my best friend? No, probably not.
“That would be a few lads from Cork. But we have a very good working relationship, very professional. I think we get on so well because we don’t see so much of each other.
“But yeah, he’d be one of my best friends.”
Girl 2: “When I’m older I want to be a professional footballer. What advice would you give me?”
Keane: “Train properly. Be on time for training. Listen to your coaches. And when you get a bit older, stay away from the boys. Good girl.”
