John Terry is among the greatest English defenders to play the beautiful game. There may have been incidents throughout his career less beautiful, but we’re not here to talk about those today. Instead, the former England captain has confirmed the one man who frightens him.
Terry spent 19 seasons at the heart of the defence for Chelsea and came up against some cracking players during that period.
But having won five league titles and plenty of other domestic trophies there weren’t many strikers who got the better of Terry.
Speaking on Sky Sports for Monday night, the 37-year-old revealed who his toughest opponent was, saying:
“Henry was my most feared striker [I played against]. He was terrifying. He was the best by far.
“He had everything, the movement. He was incredible. He would be the one before games, I’d say, ‘it’s going to be tough tomorrow.’ Nobody else did that.”
In other news, Christmas is less than a week away! In Henry’s eight seasons at the Emirates the Frenchman became one of the best forwards in the world, scoring 226 times for the Gunners.
