Report: Man United strongly linked with Monaco star
According to The Sun, Manchester United are planning a summer raid for Monaco star Bernardo Silva.
The report also suggests Jose Mourinho faces competition from former club Real Madrid for the midfielder’s signature.
Anthony Martial experienced a move from Monaco to United, so it’s not as if Mourinho won’t be asking his French attacker to drop the Portugal international a message.
There’s also that Portuguese link, which, we should expect time and time again while Mourinho is United manager.
Silva, however, is just 22-years-old. He is having an excellent season for AS Monaco, who will take on Manchester City in the next round of the Champions League.
But for a player who has four goals and four assists for Monaco this season, does he warrant a £70million price tag?
Since United have an array of creative players in midfield, one would think Mourinho should strengthen other areas in his team rather than inflicting an imbalance on his squad.
At the same time, United are being strongly linked with Antoine Griezmann, who is not going to leave Atletico Madrid on the cheap. While annual revenue is at an all-time high at Old Trafford we need to be realistic.
However, it is worth noting that Silva is indeed a client of Jorge Mendes.
