Real Madrid set to battle Manchester City for star striker
Real Madrid have joined the race to sign Alexis Sanchez in January, as the club looks to add another marquee striker to the Bernabeu. Don Balon claim Real president Florentino Perez added the Arsenal winger to the shortlist as the Spanish giants aim to defend both the Champions League and La Liga titles.
Sanchez was linked with a move to Premier League rivals Manchester City, however, a deal was not reached in time on Deadline Day. The Chilean international is reportedly interested in leaving the Emirates, and looking to join another big club.
Arsenal pulled the plug on the £60million deal, but will need to secure their star striker before his contract expires next summer. If the Gunners fail to get Sanchez to put pen to paper, he could then leave for free next summer.
The 28-year-old striker left Barcelona in 2014, and could be set for a huge return to La Liga with rivals Real Madrid. Perez is concerned over the recent injury to Karim Benzema and the departure of Alvaro Morata, and pushing for another big signing during the winter transfer-window.
Sanchez could add depth to this stellar squad, and likely to win more titles in Spain than with his current Premier League club. This would be a dream move for the Chilean, and an end to a frustrating few years at the Emirates.
