Real Madrid line-up shock move for Arsenal star as Arsene Wenger's woes continue
Alexis Sanchez suffered a frustrating Deadline Day after eying a move away from the Emirates.
The Chilean was linked to Premier League rivals Manchester City, however, a deal did not go through in time, as Arsenal struggled to land a suitable replacement.
While a fee was agreed between Arsenal and the Citizens for Sanchez, Wenger failed to sign Monaco’s Thomas Lemar. Instead, reports surfaced that Real Madrid were offered the 28-year-old playmaker, but Zinedine Zidane opted not to add another striker to the squad, according to Don Balon.
The Madrid boss could land Sanchez next summer as a free agent when his contract expires. The Chilean international appears unlikely to sign a new deal, and will force a move in the winter. While the Spanish giants remain at the top of the football world, Sanchez is said to be an added luxury in this star packed squad.
Wenger is facing further scrutiny as the team lacks any fight to win the Premier League, as well as missing out on Champions League football. The Gunners recent 4-0 thrashing against Liverpool prior to the International break along with missing out on strengthening their squad at the end of the summer transfer window raises more questions for the Arsenal boss.
