Real Madrid edge closer to signing superb £166m trio: Two Premier League stars in Bernabeu talks and Arsenal man could be third to make summer move
Real Madrid are riding high in La Liga, sitting ahead of arch-rivals Barcelona with two games in hand, but this hasn’t stopped Zinedine Zidane looking at bringing in major summer additions according to a number of transfer rumour reports currently circulating.

By all accounts Zidane is very keen on luring Man City forward Sergio Aguero back to the Spanish capital and given that Etihad Stadium boss Pep Guardiola has opted to bench the Argentine, one imagines such a transfer has become a distinct possibility.
The 28-year-old hot-shot has enjoyed a strong season thus far, scoring 19 goals in all competitions, however he’s been named on the subs bench for Man City’s last two Premier League fixtures and this has fueled speculation of a possible exit.
The Daily Mirror claim the Spanish giants are ready to make a move for Aguero, presumably as a replacement for central striking weapon Karim Benzema, and there’s no doubting a potential front three of Cristiano Ronaldo, Aguero and Gareth Bale would strike fear into the hearts of defences world-wide.
One imagines that such a move would set Real Madrid back as much as £80m but that’s a fee Zidane may be ready to fork out, especially if he elects to sell either Benzema or Alvaro Morata to balance the books.
Aguero has proven a massive hit since moving to Man City from Atletico Madrid back in 2011, netting 154 goals in 235 appearances and helping his side to two Premier League titles in the process.
Real Madrid are also pushing on with efforts to sign Man United keeper David De Gea, with the Daily Mirror claiming the Spanish side are ready to ‘re-ignite’ their interest in a player they came close to signing a while back.
De Gea has been a consistent performer in recent seasons and if Jose Mourinho’s side fail to secure a Champions League berth for next term then perhaps the allure of a move back to his native Spain will prove all the more tempting.
Finally there is once again speculation that Real Madrid are keen on re-signing Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil with ESPN insisting the German will not rule out a move back to the Bernabeu side he represented from 2010 to 2013.
The 28-year-old World Cup winner is not having a good time of it in North London and many believe a move away from the Emirates Stadium is likely if Arsene Wenger brings an end to his time in charge of the Gunners.
Ozil could offer Zidane a strong creative influence behind his front three and a move to sign the German international could be financed by the sales of Isco and James Rodriguez, two players who have failed to really live up to their obvious potential.
Last season Ozil finished the campaign as the Premier League’s leading assist maker but has been off the boil for much of 2016/17.
