Real Madrid boss still has faith in Navas following mistake
Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has defended Keylor Navas after the goalkeeper’s mistake lead to a Real Betis goal in Los Blancos’ win on Sunday, per Sky.
After appearing to foul Darko Brasanac on the edge of the area, Navas then bundled Antonio Sarabia’s shot into the net to gift Betis the lead.
But with the score at 2-1 to Real in the closing stages, Navas pulled off a stunning save to ensure the points and a vital win.
Zidane was understandably keen to discuss the positives, maintaining that the rest of the team have full confidence in the Costa Rican’s ability.
“I said to him at half-time ‘anyone can make a mistake'”, said Zidane. “The most important thing for me is the support Keylor received from his team-mates.
“They know how important he is and in the end he made a great save to get us the three points.”
Goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos secured the comeback, strengthening their bid for the LaLiga title after Deportivo beat Barcelona earlier in the day.
