Premier League giants prepare for January tug-of-war for world-class Bundesliga forward
Manchester City reportedly edge rivals Manchester United and Chelsea over Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski. The prolific striker is set to leave the German giants in January, according to the Mirror.
The Polish international joined Bayern in 2014, after leaving rivals Borussia Dortmund. Despite having signed an extension through 2021, his relationship with the club has declined and he is believed to be keen on a move away from the Allianz Arena. The Bayern star is determined to join Real Madrid, but reports suggest the Spanish giants are not interested.
Top Premier league clubs are following the progress of the superstar winger, and will be ready to swoop in if he becomes available during the winter transfer window. Lewandowski can reunite with his former manager Pep Guardiola, who would be happy to rekindle their bond.
Chelsea and Manchester United targeted the 29-year-old, both gearing up for a tight Premier League race this season. Antonio Conte added Alvaro Morata but will look to bring another top striker since Diego Costa is set to leave in January. Manchester United brought in Romelu Lukaku, and Jose Mourinho is also determined to sign another prolific goal scorer.
The City boss has an advantage as Lewandowski flourished under the Spaniard. The pressing style of play of Guardiola could be a perfect fit once again if they are reunited in Manchester. The brilliant finisher is a huge target up top, scoring 156 goals in the German league. He set a new Bundesliga goal record this weekend against Mainz after reaching 100 appearances at Bayern.
Lewandowski could help any squad win more titles, and will remain a top target come January. Looking for Premier League Betting? Get the latest odds on Premier League betting right here!
