Premier League Big Hitters Target La Liga Flop
Europa League winners Chelsea look set to lose Eden Hazard this summer, with Real Madrid in talks to sign the Belgian superstar this summer. Hazard has admitted now could be the time to say “goodbye” to the Stamford Bridge club, but the Blues are set to sign a replacement this summer, in the shape of Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho.
It could be a huge summer for Chelsea, who despite winning a European trophy and qualifying for the Champions League, are likely to be changing manager this summer.
Maurizio Sarri, who has proven very unpopular with fans this season, has informed the board that he wants to leave the club amid heavy links with replacing Max Allegri at Juventus. Allegri has been linked with a job swap, but Chelsea’s all time top scorer Frank Lampard is the favourite to take the job after leading Derby County to the Championship playoff final.

Whether there is a new manager in charge or not could impact summer transfer targets. But the main issue will be their FIFA transfer ban; while the Blues have not been granted an appeal in the manner of Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, they are still hoping to have it overturned.
Whatever happens, it does seem as though Hazard will be moving to the Santiago Bernabéu this summer. Chelsea are reported to want £130m for the player, who scored 21 goals in all competitions this season, as well as registering 15 Premier League assists.
If the Blues can sign players this summer, Coutinho could be a target. The Brazilian has failed to live up to expectations at Camp Nou since his £140million move from Liverpool in January 2018.
Though Barça won two La Liga titles with his help, his personal performances haven’t been great and that has drawn a lot of criticism from fans. It is fair to say there wouldn’t be too many tears shed if he left Cataluña this summer.
But if he can find the form that impressed so many during his time at Liverpool, he certainly would be an good signing for Chelsea. Reports suggest Coutinho will cost anyone around £150million, meaning the Blaugrana could be set to make a profit on the playmaker.
