Chelsea could be set to sign Nabil Fekir under the nose of rivals Liverpool.
The Frenchman has been linked with a move away from Lyon for some time now and it was fully expected that he would be a Liverpool player by now.
The midfielder had reportedly undergone a medical at Melwood, chosen the number of his shirt as well as had his introductory interview with the clubs media staff.
Though, negotiations with Lyon then took a huge turn and the deal quickly fell through due to a possible problem with Fekir’s knee that flared up in the medical.
Fans at least hoped that the Reds could strike up those negotiations again after the World Cup but that is still yet to happen with just a few days left until the transfer window shuts.
Now, there has been a huge twist with Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea supposedly entering the race to sign the player.
France Football are suggesting that Chelsea will go in for the player before the window shuts on Thursday which could see them jump ahead of Liverpool in the queue to sign the Frenchman.
While there will be no Champions League football for Chelsea next season, France football suggests that the club have the means to persuade the player to come to Stamford Bridge.
There is still the possibility of the player staying at Lyon however.
