For much of Mesut Özil’s career in England, since joining Arsenal from Real Madrid in 2013, he has been criticised by many fans and pundits. But he may well have silenced his doubters with ‘a moment of genius’ against Tottenham at the weekend.

The German international is often called lazy, with many believing he doesn’t roll his sleeves up when the going gets tough. But as well as putting a man of the match performance in against Spurs, Özil did something rather special in the build up to Alexis Sanchez’s goal.
