Mauricio Pochettino sets record straight after meetings with Barcelona president
Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino appeared in front of the media on Thursday where he spoke for the first time about links with the vacant Barcelona job.
Pochettino recently had a meeting with Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu, which he promises is only a “coincidence”.
Spurs fans were understandably fearful of losing one of the best coaches in the Premier League should Barcelona come knocking, but Pochettino set the record straight and they can gain some sleep again.
Even if he was to be sacked by Daniel Levy coaching Barcelona would be a no goer due to Pochettino’s Espanyol connections – a club he not only played for but managed.
Pochettino said: “I am an Espanyol fan. I think then I do not need to speak too much. It is like one day if Daniel Levy sacks me in a few years, for me it would be impossible to manage Arsenal.”
The Tottenham boss added: “For me, before being a manager and a player, is to be loyal. I love Espanyol and now Tottenham. It would be impossible to one day move to Arsenal.”
