Manchester United want to sign £70m defensive pair in January
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is readying big money moves to bring in three strong additions this January according to the Daily Mirror.
Mourinho has seen his Old Trafford side start the season in average fashion and the Portuguese boss is clearly unhappy with the defensive offering he currently has to select from and as such moves for new signings is perhaps unsurprising.
Bayern Munich star David Alaba, valued at £40m, is now a Man United target with Mourinho hoping to improve his options out wide, though one wonders if the Premier League side can tempt the Austrian to make a move away from Allianz Arena.
Alaba’s national team colleague Aleksandar Dragovic is another on Mourinho’s wish-list and the £20m rated Bayer Leverkusen man might be an easier nut to crack.
As well as chasing this Austrian pair Mourinho is keen on Southampton centre-back Virgil van Dijk, the Dutch international having continued to impress this season, and the former Celtic man may well be interested in a possible move to join the Premier League giants.
Man United have kept just two clean sheets in their past nine Premier League matches and the addition of Virgil van Dijk could perhaps be the most realistic and most effective option among this trio, though this source points out that Mourinho isn’t just looking to bring in one of the players names and may look to sign multiple defensive additions.
