Manchester United want £152m Trio: Tottenham, PSG and La Liga stars targeted as Jose Mourinho looks to dig deep to improve squad
It’s fair to say that Jose Mourinho’s tenure as Man United boss hasn’t started all that brightly and speculation about upcoming transfer moves is to be expected and these sources claim that large sums will be invested in the capture of some world-class talents.
Antoine Griezmann – £83.5m
The Daily Star report on claims that Manchester United are ready to trigger an £83.5m release clause in their pursuit of the French international and given how poorly Atletico Madrid are faring, such a move would surely tempt the Euro 2016 star, who happens to be best friends with Old Trafford star Paul Pogba.
The 25-year-old has proven a massive hit since leaving Real Sociedad to the Spanish capital, grabbing 66 goals in 127 appearances in all competitions, but Diego Simeone’s side are well down in sixth spot in La Liga and that may well lead to the club’s top talents looking for alternative pastures.
Edinson Cavani – £44m
Having brought in veteran Zlatan Ibrahimovic Jose Mourinho will apparently look to sign his former PSG team-mate
The 29-year-old has been offered a new three-year deal to stay at the Parc des Princes but is stalling on signing a new deal, with the French giants battling to retain their domestic title and the Daily Express claim the Uruguayan is now a target for the Premier League side.
Cavani played second fiddle to Zlatan in France and this source’s claims that the former Napoli man is seen by Man United as a long-term successor to the Swedish veteran is a little hard to swallow.
Danny Rose – £25m
Man United and Man City will reportedly battle it out to land Tottenham full-back Danny Rose with the Daily Mirror claiming an offer is imminent.
The England international signed a new five-year contract with his White Hart Lane employers but this won’t stop Mourinho and Pep Guardiola beating a path to the left-back’s door.
The left-back spot at Man United is a potential problem area with the likes of Matteo Darmian, Daley Blind and Luke Shaw having all been used in the spot in 2016/17.
