The Times reports that Mourinho has earmarked moves for four top talents and this comes after the Portuguese manager had already spent upwards of £150m in the summer transfer window.

Top of his wish-list is 25-year-old Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, who would cost the Premier League side a whopping £84m to sign, that sum being amount needed to trigger the French international’s release clause.

Griezmann Deal

Griezmann finished Euro 2016 as top-scorer and has been a big success since leaving Real Sociedad for the Spanish capital in 2013, however Diego Simeone’s side are struggling this season and as such may struggle to keep hold of the cultured forward and could look to invest that big cash windfall in the purchase of a number of fresh additions.

Mourinho is looking to bring in Benfica duo Victor Lindelof and Nelson Semedo, the centre-back and right-back respectively, having performed impressively during their Lisbon side’s push to the top of the Primeira Liga table this season.

Swedish international Lindelof will apparently cost around £38m to secure whilst Semedo, who has won one Portuguese cap, is valued at around £25m.

A move for Lindelof had been penciled in for next summer but growing clamour for his signature will lead Mourinho to make a move next month and many reports suggest the deal is close to completion.

Though only Chelsea, Southampton and Tottenham have conceded fewer goals that Manchester United it’s fair to say that at times Mourinho’s back-line has proven ineffective and Lindelof may be seen as an ideal partner for summer capture Eric Bailly, though one wonders where such a transfer would leave English international pair Chris Smalling and Phil Jones.

The final of the four targets named by this source comes in the form of AS Monaco defensive midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, who has been particularly impressive in Champions League action.

The 22-year-old is still to win a full French national team cap but is still said to be worth as much as £35m.

Mourinho may well feel he need a strong presence in the centre of his midfield, a position he could certainly do with addressing, as he looks to offer protection for Paul Pogba.

Bakayoko is seen by Mourinho as a long-term replacement for veteran midfielder Michael Carrick.
