Manchester United set to increase offer for LaLiga star
Manchester United need goals and if Zlatan Ibrahimovic is to move on this summer, the club needs to find a consistent replacement.
Romelu Lukaku was linked with a move to Old Trafford after the club cooled their interest in Antoine Griezmann, but reports suggest the Belgian has chosen to return to Chelsea.
Now, attention has turned to Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata.
According to the Guardian, United are set to increase their offer for Morata to £60million after their first bid of around £52million was rejected by Los Blancos.
The report claims negotiations with Madrid took place this week. As a result, United are understood to be confident of persuading Florentino Perez to settle for a reduced fee if they can pay the majority of it up front.
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte was keen to take Morata to Stamford Bridge, but the Italian is now focused on Lukaku, who looks to be the one to replace Diego Costa as the champions’ main man up top.
