Manchester United risk losing out on key target as Monaco midfielder refuses to rule out PSG movePublished February 21, 2017
Manchester United target Tiemoue Bakayoko has hinted that he would snub a move to Old Trafford in favour of a switch to Paris Saint-Germain.
The Monaco defensive midfielder has been in fine form for the Ligue 1 leaders so far this season, attracting interest from a range of clubs across Europe due to his dynamic displays at the Stade Louis II.
Premier League giants United are one of the teams who have been most strongly linked with a summer move for Bakayoko’s services, but in a recent interview, the imposing 22-year-old admitted that he wouldn’t turn down a transfer to PSG if the opportunity presented itself.
“I was born and I lived all my youth in Paris,” he told Culture PSG . “If the opportunity presents itself, I wouldn’t turn down PSG.
“But, I’m only 22 years old and I feel very good at Monaco.”
Born and raised in Paris, it’s clear that a move to the French champions would be top of the agenda for Bakayoko should they register an interest in signing him.
But with a reported value of around £33.9m on his head, the riches of the Premier League may also have a role to play in any prospective negotiations. Chelsea have also been credited with an interest in the player, who has two years to run on his current deal in the French Principality.
Bakayoko has made 30 appearances this campaign, scoring two goals and making a huge total of 124 interceptions (per WhoScored).
