Manchester United ready to smash world-record with £171m bid: Chelsea set to fight Premier League rivals in transfer bidding war
Manchester United are reportedly ready to fork out as much as €200m to sign Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale according to Spanish source Marca.

Such a fee would more than double the current transfer record outlay, which Manchester United themselves set last summer when they spent £86m to sign Paul Pogba, and Chelsea are also set to make a similar offer according to this source.
Gareth Bale has proven a massive success since leaving White Hart Lane for the Bernabeu in 2013 but has been since late November and noticeably, bar the last couple of results, Zinedine Zidane’s men have coped well enough without the Welshman.
Bale has racked up a very decent return of 65 goals from 139 appearances and played key roles in two Champions League successes but if an offer of this magnitude was made then surely the Spanish side would consider selling.
Both Premier League sides would have to make a contract offer in the region of £350k to convince Bale to leave but a move back to the English top tier could tempt the 27-year-old.
The Marca also point out that Chinese Super League sides are also sniffing around Bale but such a move is unlikely at this stage in the wide-man’s career.
Prior to his move to Real Madrid Bale was in superb form in the Premier League, bagging the PFA Players Player of the Year in both 2010/11 and 2012/13.
Jose Mourinho may well be looking to field Bale in a front-three alongside the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and either Marcus Rashford or Juan Mata.
