Manchester United are set for a huge squad overhaul this summer as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to make his stamp on the club after being given the manager’s job permanently. One major signing he could look to complete is Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, who would cost a reported £90million.

That would a record for a defender, and centre back certainly is a position that United need to strengthen. While Victor Lindelof has found a new lease of life under Solskjaer, there are serious doubts as to whether Phil Jones and Chris Smalling, both of whom have signed new contracts this season, are up to scratch, while Eric Bailly seems destined for the Old Trafford exit door.

Koulibaly is renowned for being one of the best defenders in Europe and would certainly solve a few issues for the Red Devils. The Senegal star has previously been a target for Chelsea, but he could now finally make the switch to the Premier League. It will cost United a hefty sum, but they are preparing themselves for a big spending spree to gear up for next season.

Along with Koulibaly, they have also been linked with a move for Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane, who has reportedly said he is ready for a new challenge. Solskjaer is also desperate to add to his attacking options, with Callum Hudson-Odoi’s situation at Chelsea said to be being monitored.

Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho is also a target, as is Joao Felix, Benfica’s 19-year-old forward and the latest sensation to come out of Lisbon. He became the first player to score a hat trick for the club in Europe since Eusebio, on Thursday.

Links to of these players suggest it’ll be an interesting few months at Old Trafford. But they’ll be tougher to acquire if United are not in the Champions League next season, and making sure they are is top of  Solskjaer’s priority list right now.
