Manchester United make sensational decision over pursuit of Ronaldo
Jose Mourinho and Manchester United are set to make a sensational decision over the future of Cristiano Ronaldo, and focus on landing Alvaro Morata instead.
United are desperate for a number nine, and did look like they were about to sign Morata, yet the news Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Real Madrid understandably threw their transfer plans up into the air.
Ronaldo’s links to United are legendary, and his love for the club is well known – not to mention the fact that Ronaldo and Mourinho share Jorge Mendes as their agent, meaning a move could be facilitated.
That of course threw the move for Morata into doubt, yet now it seems United are determined to push ahead with the move.
A move for Morata will cost around £70 million, cash United are willing to spend, and it seems Ronaldo will be staying in Madrid should the club foot his tax bill, with Mourinho having his own issues now in terms of a tax evasion case.
Meanwhile, United have other targets on their list, and want to land Nemanja Matic from Mourinho’s former club Chelsea – and it’s thought the player himself is open to a move away from the Blues, worrying about his playing time under Conte should another midfielder come in.
