Manchester United considering amazing gesture for long serving player
It seems pretty clear Manchester United skipper Wayne Rooney is set to leave the club this summer, and it seems the Red Devils may even be willing to allow him to go back to boyhood club Everton on a free transfer.
Rooney knows his time at the club is coming to an end, and while he doesn’t seem keen on a big money move to China, or even one to the MLS, he wants to keep on playing, feeling this is not the time to retire, and wants to go back to where it all began.
Everton manager Ronald Koeman has often mentioned getting the forward back, and it’s clear that while Rooney may not be able to break into Jose Mourinho’s first team anymore, he’s still got plenty to give in the top flight.
It would be a remarkable return to Everton for Rooney, and show that his career has come full circle, while allowing his family to remain in the north west, where they’ve settled throughout his career.
Man United are thought to be considering waving the transfer fee, as a mark of respect for Rooney, and as a way to allow the move to go through quicker and ease the financial pressure on Everton considering Rooney would demand wages around the £150,000 mark.
