Manchester United close to sealing £35million deal for Serie A star
Manchester United are plotting a £35million summer move for Inter winger Ivan Perisic this summer, with Jose Mourinho flying to Croatia to thrash out terms, per The Sun.
Mourinho was spotted in the crowd at Croatia’s World Cup qualifier against Ukraine, but the Red Devils’ boss was believed to be there to link up with friend and transfer mastermind Predrag Mijatovic.
He has helped the Portuguese clinch big deals in the past, and he hopes he can help ensure Perisic moves to Old Trafford this summer, rather than other interested parties such as Liverpool and Chelsea.
The 28-year-old has scored nine goals in 27 appearances for Inter this season and would provide much needed width in Mourinho’s attack at Old Trafford.
United are keen to spend heavily this summer, with Mourinho stepping up his efforts to return the club to the summit of English and European football.
Since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013, the club have not won a Premier League title. They currently sit fifth in the table right now, meaning a place in the Champions League is far from assured.
