Manchester United and Arsenal are on course to battle it out to sign Porto striker Andre Silva over the summer, according to reports.
The 21-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough season at the Estadio do Dragao, scoring 17 goals in all competitions and impressing in the Champions League for the Portuguese side.
This has alereted a number of European clubs to his talent, and the Daily Express writes that scouts from United and Arsenal were present at Porto’s Champions League last-16 first leg defeat against Juventus as they ponder a summer bid for the promising forward.
Both clubs are set to dip into the transfer market during the close season to strengthen their forward lines. Arsenal have been heavily reliant on talisman Alexis Sanchez for goals, and with the Chilean reportedly pondering his future, the Gunners are almost certain to add at least one player to their striking ranks.
The need for a new attacker is perhaps even greater for Premier League rivals Manchester United, though, who are set for a busy summer of transfer activity as manager Jose Mourinho attempts to mount a title challenge in his second season in charge.
Wayne Rooney is believed to be headed for the Old Trafford exit door, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic is 35 and not a long-term option for the Portuguese coach.
Manchester City and Middlesbrough representatives were also at the game at the Estadio do Dragao in midweek, which was finally settled by second-half goals from Marko Pjaca and Dani Alves.
