Pep Guardiola will once again look to Germany for transfer targets this summer, with Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang his ideal replacement for Sergio Agüero.

The Argentine’s future at the Etihad Stadium is less than clear, having lost his place in the team to 19-year-old striker sensation Gabriel Jesus.

Jesus has netted three goals in two games and looks well at home in the Premier League. Agüero has cast doubt over whether he will stay at City by claiming he is editing for the club’s decision on the matter per BR.

If he does depart, the Sun say Guardiola will attempt to lure Aubameyang. The former Bayern Munich boss signed Ilkay Gundogan from Dortmund last summer and wants to reunite the two former teammates.

Aubameyang is one of the most prolific strikers in Europe, scoring 17 league goals this term and was quoted saying he was open to a move away from the Signal Iduna Park in the closed season.

Meanwhile, Agüero’s situation has put a number of European big-hitters on red alert, with French champions Paris Saint-Germain just one club rumoured to be keen on launching a bid for the unsettled City star.
