Manchester City target £34million Portugal midfield ace
Manchester City look set to complete a summer move for Sporting Lisbon midfield powerhouse William Carvalho after agreeing to py his £34million buyout clause, per the Daily Mirror.
City boss Pep Guardiola is intent on bringing the average age of his squad, which is packed with players aged 30 or above, and has identified the Euro 2016 winner as the right man to lead his reform.
The 24-year-old’s arrival would bring the futures of both Fernando and City legend Yaya Toure into serious question, but Guardiola has been brought in to take the club in a completely new direction.
Carvalho, though, has been linked with a move to the Premier League for a number of years. Whether City will face competition for his signature remains to be be seen. Liverpool and Arsenal are well known admirers.
But if they can clinch a deal, it would be a relative bargain, given the transfer fees being paid for similar types of players these days.
