Manchester City are closing in on a deal to sign their number one target, Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez, for £44million in January.
The Gunners forward, 28, is out of contract and appears to have no desire to remain at the Emirates Stadium beyond the end of the current season. City thought they had got their man last summer, but a deadline day switch was cut after Arsenal couldn’t get a replacement.
BACK A SIDE IN THE MANCHESTER DERBY WITH BETFAIR
It has been suspected for a while that City would go back in for Sanchez. Pep Guardiola is known to be a huge fan having signed him before for Barcelona in 2011.

Arsene Wenger has always maintained the Chilean is not for sale because he is the key to the club getting back into the Champions League. But he may be tempted to take this deal in the winter and try to move on as quickly as possible.
GRAB THIS CORAL OFFER
It is a really tough situation for the club, who would still make a profit having signed him for £35milllion in 2014. The real lesson is they should have sorted his contract out much sooner.
