Manchester City 'Like' West Ham Tweet Celebrating Liverpool Draw

Manchester City’s social media team made clear their thoughts on West Ham’s 1-1 draw with title rivals Liverpool in Monday night. Eagle eyed viewers saw they had liked a tweet from the Hammers celebrating the result, as it means the Reds are just three points ahead of them as they prepare to face Everton on Wednesday.

Michail Antonio scored just moments after Sadio Mane had put Liverpool ahead with a goal that appeared to be offside. It was the second game in succession that Jürgen Klopp’s side have failed to win.

Despite City losing at Newcastle last week, as well as dropping other points over Christmas, the Reds have been unable to take full advantage and now appear to be feeling the pressure. They missed the chance to go five points clear and now Pep Guardiola’s men can go top with a win at Goodison Park this week.

The intensity of the rivalry between the two sides has grown this season. Last week, Kyle Walker appeared to mock Liverpool as they drew with Leicester before deleting his tweet. Now City appear to have fuelled it further with this action. But they know they will have to beat the Toffees if they are to take full advantage of the situation.

People have claimed Klopp’s men are feeling the pressure and City’s experience will mean they will go all the way in the title race. Though they didn’t play too well against Huddersfield and were caught out at St James’ Park, but they returned to form emphatically by beating Arsenal 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. Sergio Agüero scored his tenth hat-trick for the club to complete the double over the Gunners.

The Reds didn’t get up to speed at all on Monday, with Roberto Firmino and Naby Keita coming in for particular criticism from supporters.

West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini admitted he was angry that Liverpool’s goal stood and confronted Klopp at full time. The German also cut a frustrated figure after the game as he came to terms with a huge missed opportunity.
