Manchester City launch mega-bid for world class defender
Manchester City are reported to have made a £50million bid for Juventus left back Alex Sandro this summer, per the Mirror.
Pep Guardiola has failed to live up to the expectation of many at City, with the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss struggling to launch a convincing Premier League title bid.
It is also the first time in his career that Guardiola has failed to reach the Champions League semi finals, while also not winning a trophy in a campaign, which he has never done before.
It is unclear why the Spaniard has struggled in the Premier League, but many theories have been created. His failure to sign new fullbacks last summer is believed by many to be a big factor.
In his previous jobs, the wide defenders have had such a key role in how the team plays, but the likes of Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy, Aleksandar Kolarov and Pablo Zabaleta have been caught out at times.
As a result, those positions have become a priority in the transfer market, and Alex Sandro has been subjected to the first move.
The Brazilian has been in fine form for Juve this season, helping them to the verge of a sixth Serie A title. Bur he has particularly impressed in the Champions League as the Italians look to lift the trophy for the first time since 1996.
