Manchester City join race for Champions League sensation
Manchester City have joined Real Madrid in showing an interest in signing Monaco’s £110million-rated striker sensation Kylian Mbappe this summer, per The Sun.
Mbappe, 18, has been in fantastic form this season, inspiring his side to the brink of the Ligue 1 title and the Champions League semi finals, where they will face Juventus on Wednesday night.
The report claims only City and Real have made contact for Mbappe, but both Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United are also monitoring the situation.
It is believed the player’s dream is to sign for the Spanish giants and wants to secure the move this summer. Monaco are keen to cash in and see the player return for a year on loan, but that looks unlikely at this stage.
United cannot be counted out yet, though, because the man set to broker the deal is Jose Mourinho’s representative and super-agent Jorge Mendes, who was behind Anthony Martial’s switch from the Principality in the summer of 2015.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who has compared Mbappe to Thierry Henry, has also declared an interest in bringing him to the Emirates Stadium.
