Man Utd make stunning move to sign £170m Barcelona & Real Madrid pair: New Look Old Trafford attack will be unstoppable!
Jose Mourinho could be about to assemble the world’s best strike force at Manchester United, with the Portuguese planning two mega transfers totalling £170million.
Mourinho is currently running the rule over his squad as he looks to challenge for the Premier League title in his second season at Old Trafford. United only managed to finish sixth last season, but qualified for the Champions League by winning the Europa League.
That victory over Ajax in the final was arguably the biggest in the club’s recent history, because it has allowed phase two of Mourinho’s plan to commence. Playing in the Champions League gives the Red Devils a better chance of attracting the quality of player they want, and now they are thinking big.
Reports in Spain’s Don Balon suggest they are working on a stunning £110million deal to lure Barcelona’s Brazilian superstar Neymar to England. He has only recently penned a new contract at the Camp Nou until 2021, but the uncertainty at the club ahead of a summer of transition could see Neymar’s head turned if the right offer came in.
New boss Ernesto Valverde’s first job will be to tie down ageing stars Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta to new contracts, as they both run out in a year’s time. The latter will turn 30 in a matter of days, while the former is already 33. At 25 and with his peak years on the horizon, it is impossible to see the Blaugrana wanting to sell Neymar.
A longer-term target is also on Mourinho’s hitlist. Alvaro Morata has been the subject of speculation for a while now, with United one of the main clubs said to be interested. Reports of a bid being launched already have been quashed, but now The Sun is claiming the Red Devils are looking to work out a deal worth £60million for the 24-year-old.
Moving to Old Trafford would seemingly suit all parties. Morata is keen to leave Real Madrid in order to play more regular first team football, despite only returning to the club last summer, while United are in need of a striker having released Zlatan Ibrahimovic due to a long-term knee injury casting doubts over the value in offering him a new contract.
The personal relationship between Mourinho and Morata could be a factor, with the pair working together at the Santiago Bernabeu between 2010 and 2013, before the coach left for Chelsea and the striker headed for Juventus.
