Manchester United are in advanced talks over a shock deal to sign Stoke City goalkeeper Lee Grant.
Jose Mourinho wants to add more back up to his squad for David De Gea, but it could spell the end of Sergio Romero’s career at Old Trafford.
The Argentine has been De Gea’s understudy for four years since he was signed by Louis van Gaal in the summer of 2015.
Grant, 35, has a wealth of experience in English football with Sheffield Wednesday, Derby County, Burnley and, currently, Stoke. He may have only made his Premier League debut in 2016, but he impressed when Jack Butland faced a long injury layoff.
United are also said to be keen on some bigger name signings. Having already clinched a deal for Brazil midfielder Fred, there is intense speculation this morning linking them with a move for Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos and even reports of a swap deal for Romelu Lukaku and Cristiano Ronaldo.
