Manchester United misfit Morgan Schneiderlin is nearing the end of his Old Trafford nightmare. The Mirror is one of many news outlets reporting that the France international is close to a move to Everton. That would reunite him with his former Southampton boss Ronald Koeman. Schneiderlin is a contender for the biggest flop in English football history.
Having arrived last summer off the back of impressive performances for Southampton, he failed to become a mainstay of Louis van Gaal’s United side. A £25 million signing, he made 47 appearances over two seasons with the club, scoring once and failing to have a stand-out performance during that time.
If Koeman can get him to replicate his Saints form (for a reported £24 million) then he’ll have a brilliant player on his hands. Part of Schneiderlin’s failure at Old Trafford is down to his manager’s seemingly not knowing what to do with him. He’s the biggest argument for a sporting director at United.
