Manchester United fans have taken to social media in disbelief, after recent reports claim that Jose Mourinho is set to offer Marouane Fellaini a new two-year contract extension at Old Trafford.

The Belgian midfielder hasn’t exactly been a fan favourite since his £27m move from Everton in 2013.

The 28-year-old is not seen as a typical United player, and his rather inconsistent performances over the last three seasons had seen the player linked with an Old Trafford exit this summer, in the wake of Jose Mourinho’s arrival.

But in an unexpected twist, it seems as though the ‘Special One’ has been very impressed with Fellaini’s recent performances and according to The Sun, the Portuguese coach is keen to offer the midfielder a new contract.

Marouane Fellaini has so far this season been a regular in Mourinho’s team, and looked at his very best during United’s2-0 victory over Southampton on Friday night.

But despite the player’s improvement this season, it still seems like Marouane Fellaini has a lot of work to do before proving all the doubters at Old Trafford wrong.
