Man United boss Jose Mourinho targets Morgan Schneiderlin upgradePublished January 12, 2017
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has targeted the perfect upgrade for Morgan Schneiderlin, the Mirror reports. The Special One has made Saul Niguez a priority target in what will be another summer full of spending.
The Atletico Madrid star is one of the best midfielders in Europe so would cost the Red Devils quite a bit but Mourinho has the backing of a board who want to help him build a team capable of dominating world football.
Having signed Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Eric Bailly last summer, Mourinho wants to add to his squad again after the season commences. With the departure of Schneiderlin to Everton, he’s clearing out some of the deadwood and getting a clearer picture of who will be in his team over the next three or four years.
All aforementioned signings have impressed and this gives Mourinho added leverage in the transfer market.
By the sound of reports, he’s looking to go on a shopping spree in Madrid with Antoine Griezmann also being a big target.
With Michael Carrick coming to the end of his career and Bastian Schweinsteiger scheduled for a summer exit, bolstering the midfield is a must, especially if United secure the Champions League qualification that they’re aiming for.
