Manchester City have been handed a fresh injury blow after club captain Vincent Kompany was taken off during their recent Premier League encounter against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Kompany has only returned from a long break on the sidelines and this wasn’t the news Pep Guardiola wanted to hear as the new City boss attempts to cement his best defence ahead of the busy Christmas period.
The misfortunate incident occurred when Kompany tracked the run of Palace’s Jason Puncheon as the ball was played into the penalty area, but collided with goalkeeper Claudio Bravo and stayed down with a head injury.
Manchester City’s medical staff deemed Kompany fit to carry on, but ten minutes later he was replaced by Pablo Zabaleta.
Below we have listed some of the best tweets regarding Kompany and his injury. Some, obviously, not to be taken seriously.

Ending it on a slightly more bizarre note, this guy has spoken to god, who is trying his utmost to tell Kompany enough is enough. No resurrection this time kids.
Vincent Kompany should just retire already. God is trying to tell him something but clearly he doesn't see that..— Anfield's Finest (@EricksonTapiso) 19 November 2016
Jokes aside, we would like to wish Kompany a speedy recovery.
