Man City captain ruled out of Champions League clash with Monaco
Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has been ruled out of his side’s Champions League last 16 clash with Ligue 1 outfit Monaco on Tuesday night.
The Belgium international was expected to feature in City’s FA Cup clash against Huddersfield Town but pulled out due to an unspecified leg injury.
City had to settle for a scoreless draw, so Kompany will be hopeful he’s fit for the replay at the Etihad.
Pep Guardiola told reporters in his pre-match press conference: “Vincent Kompany is not ready for tomorrow. I think it’s won’t be longer. The Huddersfield game [replay] he will be ready.”
Kompany has had countless injuries in recent years but City could do with his presence in defence on Tuesday night. For instance, Monaco are a side that are in fire in front of goal, netting 76 times already in Ligue 1 this season.
The in-form and rejuvenated Radamel Falcao will be looking to make amends for two years of lost ground in the Premier League. English opposition in the Champions League springs that opportunity.
