Man City to beat Liverpool and Chelsea to record transfer
Manchester City are set to beat off interest from Liverpool and Chelsea for what could be a record-breaking transfer.
The Citizens look set to win the race for Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk for what could be a £60m record signing.
Not only would Van Dijk be the clubs record signing, he would also become the record for the most money spent on a defender in the Premier League.
This eclipses the record that was already held by Manchester City after they signed John Stones from Everton for a fee of £47.5m last year.

Now, they will be breaking that record in a deal that could blow their competition out of the water to the tune of £60m.
It was thought that £50m was the starting price for Southampton before interest from Chelsea and Liverpool also bumped the price up, eventually leading to an enormous fee that may now lead Pep Guardiola to getting his man.
Southampton signed the player from Celtic back in 2015 and he has since become one of the best defenders in the Premier League at the age of only 25-years-old.
