Liverpool star reduced to tears as club prevent dream transfer
Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho reportedly broke down in tears in front of his Brazil teammates when a dream transfer to Barcelona this summer was no longer a possibility.
The 25-year-old is currently on international duty where he featured for Brazil despite Liverpool briefing for weeks on end that Coutinho had been struggling with a back injury, forcing him to miss the start of the Premier League season.
Barcelona’s pursuit for Coutinho has been well documented, while the Brazilian even handed in a transfer request last month.
However, Liverpool did not honour the player’s wishes to leave the club, and now he remains part of Jurgen Klopp’s squad for the 2017-18 season.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Coutinho was left distraught by the news that Barcelona’s last offer, said to worth around £146 million, was rejected by Liverpool, and so, he will now remain at Anfield until January at least.
It is claimed that he was seen crying by his teammates, which adds to Neymar’s suggestion that Coutinho was suffering from a great deal of sadness.
It could be an interesting season for Liverpool with Klopp having to deal with one very unhappy player. One of their best players, too.
