Liverpool revive deal for German left-back Jonas HectorPublished August 23, 2016
Good news, Liverpool fans.
It seems like Reds boss Jurgen Klopp may be about to sort out the club’s defensive crisis.
It’s well known that the Anfield side are in somewhat of defensive mess, conceding five goals in their opening two Premier League matches.
Liverpool’s issues at the back had been a major factor for their rather disappointing Premier League finish last season, but despite additions in defence, the big money has been spent further up the pitch.
Despite the arrivals of Ragnar Klavan, and Joel Matip, there have been calls for Klopp to invest even more in defence between now and the end of the transfer window, particularly at left-back where it’s a straight choice between the under-performing Alberto Moreno, or utility man James Milner.
It looks as though Jurgen Klopp is fully aware of this issue, and according to reports, the flamboyant German coach, has instructed the Liverpool hierarchy to resurrect a deal for Cologne defender Jonas Hector.
A deal for the 26-year-old German full-back had been on the cards earlier this summer, but the club decided against stepping up their interest in the player due to the German club’s £20m valuation of their left-back.
It’s now believed that a deal is back on, with sources on social media claiming that secret talks have been held between Liverpool and the player’s representatives in order to conclude a deal swiftly.
