Liverpool are looking to fast-track a deal for midfield maestro Naby Keita after the club agreed a deal to sign him next summer.

It was announced in the summer that the Reds had sealed a deal that would see Keita move to Anfield in the summer of 2018 to ensure that none of their rivals would swoop in and sign the Bundesliga midfielder underneath their noses.

Though, what they could not have anticipated was the departure of Philippe Coutinho who the club were adamant would not leave Anfield in the January transfer window.
That changed when Barcelona offered Liverpool a sensational sum of £142million to get a deal over the line, a sum that the club could simply not turn down and the Brazilian left for the Camp Nou.
Now, Liverpool are looking to convince Red Bull Leipzig to sell Keita in the current transfer window, with the Reds offering a further sum on top of the £57m fee they have already agreed.
Though, RB Leipzig are said to be very reluctant to let go of their star man during the middle of the season and the likelihood of a deal getting done is quite slim.
With the money received from the Coutinho deal, however, they would possibly be able to get the German side to rethink their stance.
Time will tell whether Naby Keita will be a Liverpool player sooner rather than later.
