Liverpool make shock last minute attempt to Real Madrid star James RodriguezPublished August 31, 2016
Liverpool have become the latest Premier League club interested in signing Real Madrid superstar James Rodriguez before Wednesday’s transfer deadline.
The Colombian midfielder’s future at the Santiago Bernabeu has been uncertain for some time, with the player becoming increasingly frustrated with his lack of playing time under Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane.
The 25-year-old has indicated his willingness to leave the Spanish capital this month in order to play first team football, with the player coming to the realisation that he has no future at the club.
According to reports in Spain, Real are keen on hanging on to their Colombian star, but would accept offers which the Madrid hierarchy deem to good to refuse.
It’s understood that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has instructed club officials to inquire about Rodriguez’s availability and price tag, ahead of a possible bid for the player today.
It’s believed that Madrid would want a fee in the region of £60m, a price which so far has been deemed to much by potential suitors.
Whilst Liverpool’s interest seems to be very real, there has not yet been a concrete bid for the player.
This deal would certainly be one of the biggest of the transfer window should it happen, but is it a realistic possibility?
Looks like wishful thinking on the part of Jurgen Klopp.
