Liverpool launch £33m bid for Euro 2016 star as Jurgen Klopp looks to continue summer spendingPublished July 27, 2016
Liverpool have seen a big-money bid for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Mario according to the Metro.
The 23-year-old played a key role in Portugal’s Euro 2016 title triumph, starting six of their seven matches, and is certainly now of interest to many of Europe’s ‘Elite’.
By all accounts the £33m offer from the Anfield side was turned down by Sporting, with Inter Milan having apparently offered an even larger sum that was not deemed acceptable by the Primeira Liga outfit.
The stylish midfield maestro may well benefit from a move away from his native Portugal this summer and with the transfer window still having some time to run the pint-sized performer could still find himself at a new club by September 1st.
Jurgen Klopp has invested heavily in his squad this summer with the German having spent upwards of £65m to bring in a host of talents, the most high-profile of which being Sadio Mane, who represented yet another Southampton raid by the Merseyside outfit.
