Liverpool handed funds to launch £62m bid for Barcelona & Real Madrid stars as Anfield board back Jurgen Klopp in the transfer market
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will be rewarded with additional transfer funds following his side’s strong start to the Premier League campaign.
Paddy Power Exclusive:
The Anfield side are readying moves for Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez and Barcelona left-back Lucas Digne.
Klopp has seen his side mount a genuine title push and Liverpool look good for a Champions League finish and in order to help a top four finish become a reality the Merseyside outfit are ready to make big money moves in the January transfer window.
25-year-old Colombian international Rodriguez is ready to quit the Bernabeu and a number of sides are chasing the former FC Porto and AS Monaco man, with Chelsea also known to be courting the cultured attacker.
However a move to Liverpool may prove more tempting given James may feel a move to Stamford Bridge would just entail switching one bench for another.
Rodriguez has made just four La Liga starts this season and Liverpool are ready to make an opening offer of £55m for the South American, an offer that would represent a club transfer record for the Premier League side.
Klopp is looking to bring in a strong addition to fill the problem left-back area in his squad and has set his sights on French international Digne, who has struggled to make an impact since his move to Barcelona over the summer.
The former PSG man less than half of Barcelona’s La Liga fixtures this term and has seen his spot in the French national team suffer as a result.
Thus far this term Klopp has elected to use James Milner as his first-choice left-sided defensive option whilst Alberto Moreno continues to struggle to retain a foothold in the spot.
23-year-old Digne is a quality performer who may well be ready to leave Barcelona in pursuit of regular first-team action and Liverpool are ready to offer around £17m for the attack-minded full-back.
Liverpool sit in third place in the Premier League table ahead of their Merseyside derby clash with Everton and Klopp certainly has the club’s fan-base excited about the future after a lengthy lean spell and the club’s board are keen to secure a return to Champions League that will lead to a big financial boost.
