Liverpool finally agree eye catching £75m fee for star midfielder
Liverpool have finally agreed an eye catching £75m fee for one of their top targets of the summer window after weeks of negotiations.
The Reds have seemingly succeeded in their attempts to prise Naby Keita from the hands of RB Leipzig who were extremely reluctant to let the player leave the Germans this summer.
Even though the club maintained that they would not sell the midfielder and he would remain in Germany this summer, Liverpool remained at the forefront and whittled them down.
If reports are to be believed, it was all worth it with the German club finally cracking on an eye watering £75m fee for a player who only joined them last summer.
With or without Keita, front 6 of Henderson, Lallana, Coutinho, Salah, Mané, Firmino will be quite something. Can't wait to see it.— Jack Sear (@JackSear) July 22, 2017
Keita was seen to be Jurgen Klopp’s top target for the majority of the summer and a deal was certainly looking impossible to complete as the German looked to strengthen his central midfield.
Now, it looks like a breakthrough in negotiations could well mean that Klopp will get his man and Liverpool with beat their record transfer by a potential £38m after Mohamed Salah joined the club at the beginning of the summer for £37m.
Liverpool have also signed Dominic Solanke this summer but the fee for the player could be a lot less than both Salah and Keita, with a tribunal for the player likely to mean a £10m fee.
