Liverpool could be set to deliver a blow to Arsenal’s January transfer plans by swooping for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.
The 22-year-old France winger was a target for both clubs in the summer, with the Gunners identifying him as Alexis Sanchez’s replacement on Transfer Deadline Day. But he rejected the move citing not enough time to discuss it with family.
Now it appears they will lose out again, with The Independent reporting Lemar prefers Liverpool over a switch to the Emirates Stadium. Arsene Wenger may have to look elsewhere, with Sanchez expected to leave on a free transfer once his contract expires in the summer.
Manchester City are keen to sign the Chilean, who has made it clear he wants to leave North London.

It would be interesting to see where Lemar would fit in at Anfield, though. Perhaps he is seen as a long-term replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who is constantly linked with Barcelona and has hinted he would be keen to move to the Camp Nou.
