Liverpool cast an eye in the direction of €50million La Liga youngster
Liverpool have identified Athletic Bilbao winger Iñaki Williams as a major target for a summer move, according to Italian outlet Tuttosport, via Sky Sports.
The Reds are drawing up a list of players they could chase at the end of the season. Boss Jurgen Klopp is known for his system which uses pacey wingers, and Williams certainly fits the bill.
There could be a stumbling block in the deal, though, with the Ghana-born Basque winger having a €50million buyout clause in his contract.
Athletic are a club known for standing firm on the sales of their players, refusing to do so unless those clauses are met. When Javi Martinez joined Bayern Munich in 2012, he did so for £40million, while Juventus were made to wait until Fernando Llorente’s contract expired to sign him in 2013.
Williams is seen as one of the best young players in LaLiga and would certainly create competition for the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mane, but the Reds may face a tough summer of negotiations if they want to sign him.
