Liverpool agree Naby Keita deal but there's a catch...
Liverpool will sign RB Leipzig midfield engine Naby Keita, however, Jurgen Klopp must wait until the summer of 2018 to complete the transfer.
Keita had been a prime target for Klopp during this window but Liverpool shelved their interest after having two bids – the second worth £70million – rejected.
Liverpool then made it clear they would return a year later for Keita but reports suggest they’ve already got their man.
But why are Liverpool leaving it so late to conduct their business? And is it RB Leipzig calling the shots — despite Liverpool splashing out a significant amount of money for Keita’s signature?
Emre Cann had interest from Juventus earlier this summer but has started the season strongly under Klopp, so Liverpool won’t want to be losing the Germany international anytime soon.
But someone has to go. Especially if Liverpool are successful in their attempts to sign Monaco winger Thomas Lemar, who can also play centrally, hinting at a possible exit for wantaway Philip Coutinho.
Time will tell but it’s going to be a couple of interesting days at Liverpool.
