Lionel Messi simply could not watch as his Argentina side were humiliated 6-1 by Spain in an International friendly on Tuesday evening.
There was a lot of anticipation ahead of the game at the Wanda Metropolitano, which saw two of the World Cup favourites come together, but no one expected such an emphatic result; least of all Messi, who sat out the game and was forced to watch from the sidelines.

I know many important players are missing for Argentina offensively. But defensively(which is highly important), they're a mess.— Amosun Dolapo (@Its_Dolypizo) March 27, 2018

A hat-trick by Real Madrid star Isco was added to by goals from Thiago Alcantara, Diego Costa and Iago Aspas. Manchester City defender Nicolas Otamendi had pulled a goal back, but it was barely a consolation in the end.
Messi was seen watching the game from on high in Madrid, but he turned away as the goals were flying in.
Obviously Messi will be a prominent figure for Jorge Sampaoli’s side in Russia, but they seem a long way from making any sort of impact this summer.
