'Let's raise our pint glasses of wine': Twitter reacts to Sam Allardyce’s appointment as Crystal Palace managerPublished December 24, 2016
Sam Allardyce’s appointment as the new Crystal Palace manager has been met with a lukewarm reception in the footballing world, with fans and former players taking to social media to voice their opinions over the decision.
After resigning as England on September 27 following a corruption scandal leaked during a Telegraph exposé, the ex-West Ham, Bolton and Newcastle boss signed a two-and-a-half year deal to replace the outgoing Alan Pardew on Friday evening.
On social media, the reaction was largely negative, with some questioning why Allardyce had been allowed to work in the game again following the revelations.
Others, though, chose to approach it with their usual hilarity.
Here’s the best of the Twitter reaction to the news.
